Legal proceedings against former Social Democratic Liberal Party (SODELPA) parliamentarian Adi Litia Qionibaravi have been discontinued.

The Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC) filed a nolle prosequi when the commission’s case against Adi Litia was called in the Anti-Corruption Division of the High Court in Suva before High Court judge Justice Dr Thushara Kumarage yesterday.

Adi Litia was charged by FICAC with one count of giving false information to a public servant and one count of obtaining a financial advantage.

The commission alleged she falsely stated her permanent address to be in Ucunivanua, Verara, Tailevu, to former acting secretary general to Parliament Viniana Namosimalua.

And that in doing so, she breached the Parliamentary Remuneration Act 2014 by claiming travel and accommodation allowances.

These claims amounted to $15,480 between August 2019 and April 2020.

FICAC told the court the nolle prosequi was being filed because of Adi Litia’s medical condition.

Justice Kumarage allowed the commission to file the necessary documents in the event of a change in circumstances.
