Leewai for Dreketi

DREKETI football team has acquired the services of their former coach Johan Leewai for the 2016 Battle of the Giants tournament which will be held at Ratu Cakobau Park in Nausori from next week.

Leewai, who coached Labasa to the Vodafone Fiji FACT, said he wanted to help his former district.

“I coached them for three years before going to Labasa,” Leewai said. He said he stepped down as coach of Labasa last month.

“We have slowly started our preparation for the BOG. My goal is to help them stay in the Premier Division and continue the journey after being promoted last year.”

Dreketi president Jai Karan said they welcomed the inclusion of Leewai in the team.

“The performance of the team most probably would improve after Leewai joined us. He is no stranger to Dreketi,” he said.

Karan said his team had experienced players such as Ashneel Raju and Vikrant Chandra together with former Suva and Nasinu rep, Menon Ram.

“These are upcoming players and we have some young players representing Dreketi. We also have a good goalkeeper in Shaneel Naidu who had represented Fiji at the Olympic Games and we are depending on them to give a good show.”

Dreketi plays NEL Construction Ltd-sponsored Suva next Friday at 1pm.

Rewa is the defending champion after they beat Ba 2-0 in the final last year at home.
