Lee qualifies

SAM Lee made the cut during the 2016 South Pacific Open Championship at the Tina Golf Club Course in Noumea, New Caledonia.

Lee carded one over par 72. He recorded four birdies, three bogeys, one double bogey and ten pars in the second round to score a total of 145 after 36 holes.

The 26-year-old is using the tournament as a build-up for the Fiji International which will be played at the Natadola Bay Championship Course next month.

Lee earned his spot in the event after being the best local finisher at the Fiji Open Championship. He turned professional after earning status on the PGA Tour of Australasia at the qualifying school event in Australia in January 2015.

Professionals Waisake Vati, Bill Suruturaga, Vikrant Chandra and amateur Abid Hussain will join Lee to rub shoulders with some of the world’s top golfers during the Fiji International which will be held from October 6-9.

The Fiji International is co-sanctioned by PGA Tour Australasia and the European Tour.
