RADISSON Blu Resort Fiji has officially reopened the Byblos Lebanese Restaurant, after closing it in December last year following an incident that led to refurbishment works.
Established in May 2020, the restaurant offers Lebanese and Mediterranean cuisine on Denarau Island in Nadi.
In an interview, general manager Charles Homsy said the uniqueness of the restaurant was that it was the only Lebanese cuisine eatery in Fiji available to international visitors and locals.
“We are so proud of it,” Mr Homsy said.
He said the restaurant had to be closed due to an incident on Christmas Day last year.
“We refurbished the restaurant and upgraded it with an increased seating capacity.
“And we are so happy to reopen it again for guests.
“I think it has a lot of attraction, a lot of people love it, including the local population and tourists.”
Mr Homsy said the restaurant was reopened on a trial-and-error basis before fully opening its doors to guests.
“I think that there is a demand in Fiji for Lebanese food, different specialties, different taste, different flavours, so the Lebanese food also responds to a lot of ethnicity food.
“It has a vegetarian and mediterranean cuisine, and Fijians love Lebanese food. We have seen it in the past, even when we were in the COVID-19 pandemic, the restaurant used to be packed with guests.
“So, I think it responds to another addition and another speciality. We all do burgers, pizzas and Italian food and this is an addition we’ve added to the list.”
He said these additions were part of efforts to diversify the resort’s dining options, with a total of five speciality cuisines expected to be available within the hotel.
