Learning, teaching top priority – Bure

Learning and teaching shall be the utmost priority in all respective schools, with heads of schools told to strike the right balance between extra-curricular activities, which includes sports and learning.

This is stated by the acting permanent secretary for Education Ministry Timoci Bure in a circular he sent out on April 4.

“Learning and teaching shall be the utmost priority in all respective schools,” he said.

“Free Education Grant (FEG) shall also be prioritised for learning and teaching purposes. PEMAC, careers and library classes shall not be utilised to cover for the loss of learning and teaching hours due to extra-curricular activities.”

Mr Bure has directed all district and divisional officers to monitor all extra-curricular activities within the district and division.
