THE ongoing investigation into the final report of the Barbara Malimali Commission of Inquiry (COI) will not be affected by the recent leak of information, according to Police Commissioner Rusiate Tudravu.

Mr Tudravu said their investigation had started and was being treated as a top priority.

“The leaked information will not prejudice the investigation,” he said.

In response to queries from this newspaper, Mr Tudravu said they would follow their own inquiry.

“The police will pursue their line of investigation,” he said, adding that experienced officers were handling the case.

“I reiterate my call for members of the public to trust the process.

“The investigation is being conducted by senior CID investigators who have years of experience in handling cases of national interest.”

The investigation began after President Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu formally referred the final COI report to the police and FICAC.

Mr Tudravu had met senior officers to plan their approach into their investigation.
