HONOURABLE Speaker, Mr Filimone Jitoko is a respected Fijian jurist, diplomat, and parliamentary leader currently serving as Speaker of the Parliament of Fiji.

His distinguished career spans judicial, legal, and regional governance roles, including service as Solicitor-General of Fiji (1993–1996) and Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Nauru (2017–2021). He was appointed to, and served on, the High Court Bench of Fiji from 2001 to 2009, and briefly as a member and then President of the Court of Appeal of Fiji from 2023 to 2024 before he retired.

Justice Jitoko is known for his principled leadership and commitment to judicial reform across the Pacific.

He has contributed to regional legal development through his work with the Pacific Islands Forum and other intergovernmental bodies.

His legal education includes studies at the University of the South Pacific and Victoria University of Wellington, and he is admitted to the New Zealand Bar.

As Speaker, he brings decades of experience in law, diplomacy, and public service, fostering integrity and collaboration in Fiji’s legislative process.

Justice Jitoko is widely regarded for his calm authority, legal acumen, and dedication to Pacific unity.
