LEADERSHIP is about empowering others and not overpowering.

This was the message relayed by the acting principal of Adi Cakobau School (ACS) Bharti Singh to the 132 newly-elected prefects during the school’s prefects induction ceremony yesterday.

Ms Singh reminded the prefects that as a leader, they needed to have emotional strength because they are bound to face certain challenges.

“You will encounter obstacles and even failures at times – reflect on these as learning opportunities,” Ms Singh said.

She said leadership was not about separating or being above others, it was about connecting and working with everybody.

“Through exemplary leaders, we have learnt that leadership is about having the courage, vision and determination to succeed.

“Leadership asks not only for drive but integrity to bridge the gap between lofty goals and the daily realities of serving others.”

She also thanked the former principal of the school and the team of teachers who had worked hard to achieve impressive academic results and outstanding performances in extracurricular activities. |
