Leadership Fiji Community Fund chairperson Rajesh Patel says helping organisations become self-sufficient is one of their main goals.

He made the comment during the handover of $5000 worth of cooking equipment to the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) in Suva today.

“The equipment would allow SPCA to produce dog treats for the pets at the shelter and also sell to pet owners in the public,” Mr Patel said.

SPCA vice-president Ken Kassem said he was grateful to Leadership Fiji for the timely assistance.

“The dog treats that will be made from this equipment will be sold to the public and will assist in the running of SPCA and it also benefits the welfare of our animals,” Mr Kassem said.

The donation includes a dehydrator and an oven to bake dog treats such as jerkies and cookies.
