Lawyers to plead for leniency in 4.15-tonne meth case today

Nine lawyers who represented the all the accused in the 4.15 tonnes of methamphetamine importation case will make their mitigation submission in the Lautoka High Court today.

Last week the State made its sentencing submissions, calling for 50 year jail terms for three ring-leaders convicted by the High Court.

The nine convicted are Justin Ho, David Heritage, Louie Logaivau, Ratu Aporosa Davelevu, Sakiusa Tuva, Jale Aukerea, Ratu Osea Levula, Cathy Tuirabe and Viliame Colowaliku.

The mitigation submissions will be made before Justice Aruna Aluthge.

He is expected to announce a sentencing date after today’s hearing.
