LAUTOKA’S Churchill Park has been confirmed as the venue for the 2017 Courts Inter-District Championship from October 10-15.
There were rumours that the prized tournament for the new season would be shifted to another venue because of a prior booking by another organisation.
Fiji Football Association president Rajesh Patel said he held meetings with the relevant authorities where the dates and venue for the IDC were finalised.
Patel said people wishing to witness the annual spectacle in Lautoka could now pencil in the dates on their itinerary.
He said the tournament would start on the Fiji Day public holiday.
“The date and venue is set, so people wishing to travel to Lautoka, especially from overseas can plan their trip,” Patel said.
“There will be 90-minute matches in both the senior and premier divisions. Pool matches will be played from Tuesday to Thursday. There will be a break on Friday.
“The semi-final will be played on Saturday while the finals will be played on the Sunday of that week.”
The IDC will be played in one district unlike the Inkk Mobile Battle of the Giants where the group stage, semi-finals and final were played at different venues.
The Fiji FA ordinary congress will be held on October 13 which is marked as the rest day.
The positions of three vice-presidents will be contested for during the congress.
The positions are of Jiten Kumar (West), Jainendra Sukhu (South) and Girja Prasad (North) all of whose four-year term comes to an end in October.
