THE Sere Nalulu-coached Lautoka team will be out to improve its performance at the Fiji Football Association women’s Inter District Championship at Govind Park in Ba next week.
The Blues reached the semi-finals of the IDC last year losing out to eventual winners Ba 1-0.
The side is made up of a mixture of youth and experienced players.
Nalulu said the team had been training for the past two weeks.
He said students from Natabua High School, Saint Thomas High School, Jasper Williams High School and Lautoka Muslim High School were part of the team.
“We were unfortunate to lose to Ba last year,” Nalulu said.
“This time we are confident of moving a step up. The players have been combining well at training.”
Renee Biautubu, Vasiti Kumia, Lavenia Cavuru and Unaisi Talei are some of the experienced players in the side.
Lautoka has never won the women’s IDC title losing in the final on two occasions.
The pool draws will be done at the Fiji FA headquarters in Suva tomorrow. This year the teams have been grouped in two divisions.
The super premier division will include Rewa, Navua, Nasinu, Lautoka, Ba, Nadi and Labasa. Suva, Lami, Tailevu Naitasiri, Nadroga, Tavua and Savusavu will feature in the premier division.
The IDC will be held from November 27-29.
