Lautoka created a major upset on day two of the primary school inter district competition by defeating Rewa 2-1.
From the start, Lautoka played with energy and focus.
They took an early lead with a powerful header from a corner kick, putting them ahead 1-0 however Rewa fought back quickly and equalised just before halftime, making it 1-1.
The second half was intense, with both teams pushing hard to score, they regained the lead after a clever series of passes, finishing with a goal to make it 2-1.
Rewa tried hard to come back, but Lautoka’s defense held strong, and their goalkeeper made several key saves. When the final whistle blew, the boys in blue celebrated a hard-earned victory.
Lautoka’s coach Kavneel Chand said the win was the fruit of the hard work of the boys.
“This win shows how teamwork and hard work pay off and I am very proud of the boys,” he said.
Chand said the boys playing for the Lautoka district was selected after a trial.
“The preparation went well. We started recruiting players weeks ago after the inter-primary competition. Schools were invited to send their best players for trials, helping to form a strong team.”
His message to the opponent team was to come prepared for the game.
