Lautoka aims to end Nadroga’s reign

THE Lautoka rugby team is confident of repeating the 1979 Farebrother feat when they won the the last HFC Bank Farebrother Challenge.

And it feels like dejavu as the Maroons and Stallions collide in the last challenge.

The Maroons ended Nadroga’s nine -year Farebrother dominance in 1979 and the onus is on Ifereimi Rawaqa’s men to also embed their names in the history books.

Laced with relatively young boys, the Sugar City ruggers are optimistic of upsetting the star-studded Stallions at Lawaqa Park.

The side has prepared well for the battle and is looking forward to an exciting battle.

Team media officer Sefanaia Scholte said the 1979 rugby feat would inspire the Lautoka boys to upset the Stallions tomorrow.

He said the side respected Nadroga for their achievement and had called on the Maroons to deliver the goods for their fans and the people of Lautoka.

“We respect Nadroga and we are hopeful of giving them a good game,” said Scholte.

“The boys have prepared well for the battle and we do our best to re-write Farebrother history.

“We are going there on Saturday to make our mark and we are confident of our chances.”

Scholte said there would be no big names in the side but a bunch of talented youths who were determined to fulfil their rugby goal.

He said the game would be the last provincial game for the season and the side had been urged to save the best for the last.

The much anticipated game will kick off at 3.30pm.
