LAKEBA was among the first islands to develop a five-year strategic and business plan and establish its own company to manage pine and other resources, committee member Aisake Taito said.
Speaking during an awareness meeting held at the Kinoya Methodist Church hall on Friday last week, Mr Taito said the model separated the vanua from business operations through trust and a company, ensuring transparency and accountability.
He said dividends would benefit the vanua o Lakeba, while governance would be independent and professionally managed.
Mr Taito said the plan focused on faith, education, sustainable resource development, and women and youth empowerment to uplift villages and safeguard future generations.
