CJS Supermarket has opened its fourth outlet, this time, in the densely populated township of Nakasi, outside Nausori. At the soft opening yesterday, co-founder Charan Jeath Singh said CJS Supermarket Nakasi promises a lot of good offers and specials when it opens for shoppers at 10am today.

“For the Nakasi residents, it would be an interesting day for them tomorrow (today) when the shop opens. In the last five years, they’ve been asking if we can have a supermarket on this location, so tomorrow at 10am, we will be opening and customers can expect a lot of specials, a lot of good offers.”

CJS Supermarket began in Mr Singh’s hometown in Labasa in 1989 then expanded to Viti Levu in 2017, where its parent company Charan Jeath Singh Group converted the old Bajpai building at the corner of Rt Mara Rd and Nabua Rd into a modern multi-tenant complex with CJS Supermarket Nabua as anchor tenant.

In 2022, the group opened its third CJS Supermarket outlet in Lautoka.

The brand quickly gained a reputation for being price competitive.

Nakasi residents can expect the same from their new CJS Supermarket, which sits at the corner of Kings Rd and Nakasi Rd.

“Our brand is such that we want our supermarket to be tidy, neat, clean and prices should be reasonable,” Mr Singh said.

“Cost of living is going up day by day so we would like to see that as far as we can negotiate with the suppliers, we pass it down to our customers as well.

“We will make sure that prices remain competitive compared to other supermarkets and we’ll make sure that customer service is number one and that prices are always what customers would expect.”

The $30million project had taken 10 years to materialise as the company had to purchase adjacent properties in order to create the size of the complex, which has the supermarket as its anchor tenant and room for up to 30 other tenants, according to Mr Singh.

Fully tenanted, the complex is expected to generate over 200 jobs.
