UP to 60 medical lab scientists have not been paid overtime despite email reminders to the Health Ministry.
Earlier this month, Health Minister Dr Atonio Lalabalavu urged these workers to inform his team about their dues and that arrangements would be made.
However, Fiji Institute of Medical Laboratory Science president Jignesh Sharma said nothing had been arranged.
“We’ve sent emails following the statement he made and reminded them about the overtime pay for our members but nothing has been paid,” Dr Sharma said.
“We sent emails to the Minister for Health, Assistant Minister and permanent secretary but they have not responded to our email. They are well aware of the issue and we also requested a meeting but no response from their end.”
Mr Sharma said these workers were part of the salary Band F.
Dr Lalabalavu did not reply to questions sent yesterday. But he had earlier told this newspaper the institution should inform his office about unpaid overtime.
