While he could not represent the nation as an athlete, Team Fiji general manager to the Pacific Mini Games, Anushil Kumar is grateful for the opportunity to do so as an official.

Kumar will be heading to Palau with Team Fiji and expressed how significant it was for him.

“It’s a proud moment for me personally. I could not represent as an athlete, but it has always been my dream to give back to the country in sports and this is just the best platform for me to give back to Fiji,” Kumar said.

The sporting official, who is also the general manager operations for the Fiji Football Association, led the national contingent in presenting its i-Tatau to the Minister for Youth and Sports, Jese Saukuru at the FMF Gymnasium on Wednesday.

He described the mission to Palau as the chance for him to wear a different hat this time.

“This time, once again I’m wearing a different hat. You have been seeing me wearing the football hat but now, it’s time to represent the country at a wider reach,” he highlighted.

With an illustrious career as a key figure in Fiji football, he is also no stranger to managing the national delegation at the Pacific Games and Mini Games.

He was general manager at the previous Mini Games in the Northern Marianas in 2022, and at the 2023 Pacific Games at Honiara in the Solomon Islands.

The Mini Games will be held from June 29 to July 9 in Koror, Palau.
