THE Fiji Kulas will look to sharpen their performance when they face Papua New Guinea women’s national football team tomorrow as they continue preparations for the semi-final of the FIFA Women’s World Cup Oceania Qualifiers in New Zealand on April 12.

Head coach Nicola Demaine said the team was still working to master its style of play despite already booking a semi-final spot.

“We’re still trying to master things. You can’t really achieve that much in four weeks.

“We’ll keep working on the tactics because we know they’ll be useful to us in the future,” Demaine said.

The Kulas secured their semi-final place after edging Vanuatu women’s national football team 1-0 on Thursday.

However, Demaine believes there is still plenty of work to do, especially in front of goal.

“Our main work-on that has been highlighted from the last campaigns is finishing. In a game like that we should have put it to bed early.

“We’re working on creating better goal-scoring opportunities and improving communication, learning how to play with each other,” he added.

She added that the team was still adjusting to the tactical approach under pressure.

“The result went our way, but we’re still working on how we want to play as a team. When pressure comes, we sometimes go back to old ways.”

The clash against PNG will determine the Group B winner and runner-up heading into the semi-final stage.
