The Kula Awards, Film Fiji’s national secondary schools creative arts competition, will return this year after a seven-year break, offering students a platform to showcase their talents and gain industry experience.
Film Fiji chief executive Jone Robertson said the awards were suspended because of COVID-19 after running for 14 years.
“There is not really a creative arts or performing arts platform where kids can showcase their talent and their skills,” he said.
The program includes filmmaking and dance workshops, with students receiving hands-on training from industry professionals.
Film students recently visited the set of US Survivor on Mana Island, where the production crew conducted camera and filmmaking workshops. Dance participants are also being mentored by VOU.
Mr Robertson said the initiative aimed to inspire young people to pursue careers in the creative sector and provide positive pathways for their future.
