The Western Seniors Open, sponsored by Kriz Signage and Five Squares, brought together some of the region’s top senior golfers for a competitive day at the Denarau Golf & Racquet Club yesterday.

James Krishna was the overall winner after edging out Rajesh Prasad and Ashok Goundar in a tense playoff.

The trio were tied on a score of 78 after 18 holes, setting up a nail-biting decider that saw Krishna seal victory and lift the trophy.

The day also saw Vili Leqa shine in the net category, carding an impressive 67 to win the overall net prize.

In the A Grade division, Rajesh Prasad bounced back from his playoff loss to top the leaderboard with a net 70, narrowly edging out Salen Naidu, who also shot 70. Roy Ugra finished third in the division with a score of 71.

The tournament, which included separate categories for players below 50 and featured both men’s and women’s grades, saw 62 players compete in stroke play format.

Golf Fiji president Amitesh Chandra expressed their gratitude to the sponsors and participants, with the event once again reinforcing Denarau’s reputation as a premier venue for senior golf in Fiji.
