The Government has engaged KPMG to assist in the recruitment of a new Permanent Secretary for Health, in a move aimed at strengthening leadership within the sector.
The role is expected to require strong communication, stakeholder engagement and strategic leadership skills, alongside relevant academic qualifications.
“Eligible candidates will have high level academic qualifications and senior executive leadership experience in large and complex organisations in the private or public sector,” states the vacancy.
“They will have led major modernisation and change programs setting strategic direction, implementing significant and sustained change and have well-developed people leadership capabilities.”
The new PS will need to have excellent communication, interpersonal and influencing skills, including refined political nous to build strong relationships, foster stakeholder engagement, create new partnerships and drive a culture of excellence and innovation through technology are essential.
The Permanent Secretary for Health plays a critical role in overseeing national health policy, service delivery and system performance, making the appointment a significant one for the sector.
