A family in Korovuto, Nadi lost everything after their three-bedroom house was destroyed in a fire on Tuesday night.
Mohammed Shamim and his family were returning from a family function in Lautoka when the blaze began around at 10.30pm.
“No one was home as my mother, younger brother and myself were on our way back home when our neighbours informed us about the fire,” he said.
“By the time we reached home, the fire had spread across the house and I was only able to move away our two vehicles that was parked in the compound.”
Mr Shamim said the loss of property including a sports bike was estimated at about $90,000.
“We could not save anything. It is really heart breaking and we are trying to overcome what just happened.
“It took us many years of hard work and struggle to build our home and we lost everything within minutes.
“Now we have to start all over again,” said the 22-year-old.
The National Fire Authority confirmed the incident and said investigations were underway.
