ANOTHER Opposition MP is planning to join the party of Opposition Leader Inia Seruiratu.
Former fisheries minister Semi Koroilavesau told The Fiji Times he wasn’t part of the announcement on Monday because he had commitments to attend to.
“I was working,” he said.
“Also, I was not part of the meeting held before the official announcement.”
Mr Koroilavesau said there were ongoing discussions with other Opposition MPs to join the party.
“There will be an official announcement by Mr Seruiratu,” he said, adding he didn’t know when an announcement would be made.
“I am standing for the party as I believe in what it stands for.”
Questions sent to Mr Seruiratu have remained unanswered.
Meanwhile, another Opposition MP Rinesh Sharma said he would not comment on the new developments.
Former minister for lands Faiyaz Koya and Ketan Lal said on Tuesday they would remain independent MPs, while Hem Chand, Joseph Nand, Viam Pillay, Sanjay Kirpal and the only female Opposition member, Premila Kumar, have remained tightlipped about their future in the political arena.
