IT was an exciting game day at Ratu Ravuama Memorial School ground in Mokani as the Tailevu Rugby Union club games continued yesterday between Korocawiri and Capital Insurance Nuku.

In the end, Korocawiri emerged victorious 10-3, sparking celebrations among team members and their supporters.

The match started off on a tense note with Nuku taking an early 3-0 lead from a penalty in front of their opponent’s posts.

This lead persisted until halftime, with Nuku maintaining their advantage.

In the second half, Korocawiri shifted the momentum in their favour.

The team fortified their defence, unleashed their big players on the field, and executed impactful hits that ultimately led them to victory.

Speaking about the team’s performance, Korocawiri head coach Samuela Tuinabua expressed his pride in his players.

Despite being behind in the first half, the team rallied together, showing resilience and teamwork to secure the win.

“I’m really proud of the boys’ performance, they fought till the end when we were down in the first half.

“My message to the boys was to work as a team, and put on a solid defence on the field, so I’m proud of this achievement,” said Tuinabua.

He credited their preparation leading up to the match, highlighting the team’s fitness and readiness for the competition.

“We have been preparing from last week, so coming in the competition we were fit and ready.”

Acknowledging areas for improvement, Tuinabua pointed out the need to work on their ball carries.

He emphasised the importance of returning to the drawing board and addressing this before their next game.

Tuinabua thanked the supporters from Ovea Village, particularly the enthusiastic children for their unwavering support.
