The Republic of Korea is eager to enhance co-operation between its police force and the Fiji Police Force, especially in light of the growing challenges posed by international crimes.

This intention was shared with Acting Commissioner of Police Juki Fong Chew during a visit by South Korean ambassador Kim Jin Hyung recently.

Mr Fong Chew acknowledged the strong working relationship between Fiji police and the Korean National Police Agency.

He also highlighted the importance of joint engagements, such as attending the International Police Summit.

Ambassador Kim emphasised his government’s wish to strengthen police co-operation through specific training and education opportunities at top Korean police institutions, particularly in areas of cybercrime.

Mr Fong Chew welcomed the offers, expressing gratitude for all support from law enforcement partners.

He said effective policing required partnerships based on mutual respect and understanding because combating crime was a collective effort.
