A New Zealand tourist on a cruise holiday was evacuated from Fiji on Sunday night with injuries reported to have been sustained while snorkeling in Kadavu waters last weekend.
Fiji Police have confirmed that the Kiwi who is in his 40s was snorkeling in Dravuni waters last Saturday when he was “run over by a small boat”.
The NZ national is on a cruise holiday aboard the P&O Pacific Explorer.
“He sustained serious injuries and the medical team on board the cruise liner consisting of doctors and nurses assisted with the medical evacuation to the Oceania Hospital (in Suva) and later transferred to the CWM,” Fiji Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro told Fiji Times Online.
She said the man was medically evacuated to New Zealand by Medevac at around 8pm on Sunday night.
“We are investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident which is ongoing.”
