Kiara wins Fiji’s first gold

KIARA Thomas made Fiji proud yesterday by winning the nation’s first gold medal at the 2026 Oceania Athletics Championships in Darwin, Australia.

In a display of technique, strength, and resilience, Thomas won gold in the U20 girls’ hammer throw with a throw of 34.93 metres.

Meanwhile, Farhaa “Tyronne” Ali secured Fiji’s second gold by winning the U20 boys’ hammer throw. The Suva Grammar School athlete achieved a personal best throw of 34.42 metres to claim gold.
