Imran Khan has admitted to breaching a restraining order by disposing of a luxury vehicle – bearing the registration plate “KNGKHN” – that was under asset freeze orders.
Mr Khan, also known as “King Khan”, pleaded guilty to contravening restraining orders contrary to section 42(1)(a) of the Proceeds of Crime Act 1997.
According to the admitted summary of facts, the 41-year-old knowingly breached a restraining order issued by the High Court prohibiting his dealings with certain assets that were the subject of ongoing proceedings.
Mr Khan admitted that despite being aware of the restraining order, he disposed of a motor vehicle, which was one of the assets covered by the restraining order, to his brother, Ifran Khan.
He agreed that he understood the consequences of pleading guilty.
Justice Thushara Rajasinghe noted that the matter required careful consideration, as it was the first case of its kind to come before the court.
Mr Khan has been further remanded in custody until his sentencing on July 14.
