Extra Bula FC winger Kaile Auvray is eager to create more scoring opportunities for his team in his second match of the OFC Pro League.

Auvray was in scintillating form in the team’s opening match, playing a key role in both goals in the 2-all draw against Vanuatu FC at Eden Park last Saturday.

As the team searches for its first win of the season, the 21-year-old understands exactly what is required of him to help secure that victory.

“I think my role is more or less the same in every match, regardless of when the game is or who we’re playing. Obviously, I’m a winger, so my job is to bring impact, put the ball in front of goal, take shots, and help defensively,” he said.

“But I see myself as a creative player. What I’m being asked to do is create opportunities—whether for myself or for players like Roy and Micah, so they can capitalise on them. That’s the mentality.”

The pacy, dynamic winger is no stranger to the big stage as he played for the United States under-17s and Saint Martin national team, before opting to play for the Trinidad and Tobago national team.

Following that, Auvray decided to make a switch and follow his dad and coach to Fiji to play for the Bula FC.

He will be a key figure in today’s match against South Island United which promises to be a midfield battle, with both sides boasting talented players at the heart of the park.

Midfielder and former Rewa FC captain Setareki Hughes will play a huge role alongside captain Roy Krishna and Maikah Dau in sparking attacking moves against their New Zealand opponents.

“The most important thing for me tomorrow is to be myself, play my own game, and support the team. Obviously, we’re facing a strong side,” said Huges.

“So, it will be a good test for us as a team. But at the end of the day, we know the boys will give everything they have to secure that win.”

Bula FC, ranked fourth after the opening round will take on eigth-placed South Island United FC at 2pm at Eden Park in Auckland, New Zealand.
