It certainly is a special Vancouver 7s tournament for a number of our Fiji Airways Fiji men’s 7s players with significant milestones recognised and celebrated.

As was established leading up to the tournament, Sevuloni Mocenacagi became the most capped Fiji men’s 7s player.

His appearance in Vancouver makes it his 65th cap, surpassing double Olympic gold medallist and silver medallist Jerry Tuwai.

Speedster Viwa Naduvalo scored his 100th career try in Fiji’s opening pool match against a tough French outfit.

Naduvalo in only his 29th tournament for Fiji now has 104 tries to his name.

He scored five tries during the pool stages of this tournament, two against France and Australia and one against Argentina.

Malolo Rugby star Douglas Daveta finally got his name down in the series try-scorers record with not one but two tries in Fiji’s in the 35-14 win over Australia.

To top it off, Police player Akuila Dranivotua made his series debut and marked it with a try-saving tackle in the last second, denying the Aussies a try.

Fiji, having topped Pool B faced Spain in the cup semi-finals at 8.55 this morning.

Meanwhile, the Fiji Airways Fijiana 7s team won its last pool match, defeating hosts Canada 14-12. They faced Great Britain in the 5th place semi-final at 6.58am.
