ABDUL Kalim will play national rep Arun Kumar in the men’s final of the Geotech-sponsored Raj Charan National Singles Championship.
Kalim who is the Suva Bowling Club spokesperson defeated Keegan Jaduram 21-9 in the semi-final.
Kumar downed Waisea Turaga 21-12 in the other semi-final.
Kalim said the finals would be played this Saturday after heavy rain flooded the green on Monday.
“The prizemoney of $8000 will be distributed to the top 16 players,” he said.
“There were a few upsets created especially in the women’s division. Mereani Ralovo defeated national rep Elisabeth Mocewai during the semi-final.”
Ralovo will play defending champion Sheral Mar in the women’s final. Mar has reached the final for the third consecutive year.
She lost to Litia Tikoisuva in 2014 and beat Mocewai 21-17 in the final last year.
Kalim said Mar who was in the Fiji team for the upcoming World Bowls Championship in Christchurch, New Zealand would be out to make it back to back title victories.
