Fiji Primary School Rugby Union president Sakiusa Turagabeci reflected on the journey that led to the establishment of the 2025 Vodafone Kaji and Kajiana Rugby festival.

“It is truly a special occasion, our journey began in the early days, from the 60s to the 90s, when the Fijian Teaches Association organised the primary school’s rugby competition, and financing the entire journey themselves, it was a time of pure passion and dedication,” said Turagabeci.

“I’m immensely proud to say the Fiji Primary School Rugby Union has the largest representation of players within the Fiji Rugby Union, with 51,000 registered Kaji Boys and 22,000 registered Kajiana girls.

He credited Vodafone for their unwavering support and partnership throughout the years, which has been instrumental in the success of the rugby union.

“None of this would be possible without our pivotal partner, Vodafone and we like to thank them for their support over the years.”

Renowned sevens legend Waisale Serevi also shared his thoughts during the launch event.

He emphasised the importance of rugby as more than just a game, highlighting the values of discipline, teamwork, humility, and courage that players learn both on and off the field.

Serevi commended the Fiji Rugby Union for their efforts in developing young talents and providing them with opportunities to excel in the sport.
