“We are aiming to win four in a row.”
This according to Kaiviti Silktails head coach Wes Naiqama ahead of their match against Mounties at 6pm today at Prince Charles Park in Nadi.
The Silktails, following their round nine loss to table leaders St Marys in the Ron Massey Cup competition, have gone on to win three consecutive matches against Penrith Brothers, Canterbury Bankstown Bulldogs and Glebe Dirty Reds which has propelled them to fifth spot on the points table.
Mounties, who are in 7th position on the ladder, face an uphill battle against the Silktails side, who are ploughing ahead in the competition with confidence.
“We want to keep this momentum going. The team made a goal of sort to win all our home games this season, which is really important,” said Naiqama.
The former Fiji Bati captain said the New South Wales-based side from Australia would not be a walkover and they would have to battle hard for a victory.
“They have a pretty big side right across the park and they have got plenty of punch in the middle and their outside backs is really strong and we have to sort of take them head-on.
“Regardless of where they sit on the competition’s table, every game has been a battle to get the two points.”
Naiqama added the secret to their success this season had been largely attributed to the attitude of the boys at training.
“We need to make sure to take those chances and without looking too far ahead, our next focus is to win on the road.”
