Kaila! edition

THE Kaila! newspaper is one of the widely read newspapers by our teenagers. Not only does the newspaper attract the attention of school students but many parents get glued to the Kaila! because of its wide range of articles on teenage issues and pictures which cover school based and sporting activities.

Now the Kaila! newspaper will be published every Wednesday. This means more students will be able to access the newspaper on education, personal problems, entertainment and many other factors. It sometimes became difficult for students to obtain a copy of the Sunday Times but now that the Kaila! will be published on a normal school day, students can easily get a copy.

I am happy that the editorial team of the Kaila! are looking at a brighter edition revamped with information very much relevant to the needs of today’s students. The Kaila! brand got a lot of attraction recently during the Kaila! Star Search competition where local artists had a chance to showcase their talents.

A newspaper that started small has turned out to be a major attraction. This has been made possible through a lot of hard work and sweat and channelling innovative ideas to make the newspaper stand out and become an instant hit with the biggest consumers, our children.

This week’s copy shared stories of Epeli Vualili, Edwin Babanisi and Savita Devi who are partially disabled. Their stories of success will surely add motivation to the lives of those thousands of school students nailing final preparations for their exams. The comic corner relaxes the mind of the reader while music lovers have a hand on the latest lyrics from popular songs.

My best wishes to the superb crew — Ruby, Sailosi and Senimili. May you continue to rise to stardom and may this newspaper be recognised for its informative structure to the mindset of a teenager. Looking forward to some pictures and stories from the Youth Games in Samoa! Go Kaila!

I must also compliment the efforts of the Indian High Commission in conjunction with the Education Ministry for the handing over of more than 210 tablets to nine schools in Namosi. This is the way forward for promoting digital literacy and improving the quality of education in rural schools and remote locations!
