Kahatoka to boost Nasinu in youth netball tournament

THE Nasinu U21 team is being boosted with the inclusion of national rep Episake Kahatoka in today’s Punjas Digicel Youth Netball Cup to be held at Lawaqa Park.

Fresh from her Super League stint in Wales, the lanky defender will team up with national under-21 reps in Elenoa Gukirewam, Lana Job, Verenaisi Vucago, Mili Kotobalavu, Julie Tamani and Torika Soso.

Nasinu will be represented by two teams and Team One head coach Sai Ledua said the target was to reach the final.

Ledua’s team will face Lautoka 1, Suva 2, Nadroga and Tailevu in their pool.

“We have few national under-21 members in the team and we are expecting a good tussle against Lautoka and Suva in our pool games,” said Ledua.

“The return of Episake from Wales is a huge morale booster for the girls and we are confident of a good outing.

“The team trained for a week only but we are good to go.”

Ledua said the tournament would be an opportune time for the national reps to convince the selectors for a spot in the final U21 team to travel to Bostwana next year.

“Also the other netters in the side will use this tournament to showcase their talents and to win the hearts of the national selectors,” she said.

“All games will be tough and the girls are ready to give their best.”

Nasinu 1 will face Suva 2 in their opening game at 9.40am while Nasinu 2 will have baptism of fire against the champion Suva 1 in their opening pool game at 9am.
