Kadavu women pulled off a stunning upset as they edged Nadi 50-47 in a thrilling Subrails Marama Championship clash at Prince Charles Park, Nadi, yesterday.

The victory marks Kadavu’s third win in just five rounds since their promotion this season, proving they are not just here to participate but to compete.

The match lived up to expectations with fast-paced rugby and vocal home support for Nadi. The home side started strongly, making the most of their opportunities to dominate possession and lead 28-24 at halftime.

But Kadavu showed determination in the second spell. They regrouped and executed their game plan with discipline, turning the momentum in their favour and sealing the win at the final whistle.

Kadavu captain Vatiseva Cavuru said she was proud of her team’s effort and dedicated the win to God.

“I want to thank God for this win. I thank my team for the good game. After losing to Nadroga last week, I told the girls we must prepare well for Nadi.

“It was never going to be an easy match, but we stuck together and got the result,” she said.

In other western Marama Championship results, Nadroga hammered Yasawa 70-5 at Lawaqa Park.

Yasawa, who sit bottom of the table, managed one try in round four and another yesterday, showing glimpses of resilience despite the scoreboard. Nadroga, who entered this round in seventh place, will look to climb further up the ladder after such a commanding performance.
