Kadavu bounced back from their round one Marama Cup loss against Suva a fortnight ago with a 76-0 win over Yasawa in round two at Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka yesterday.

It was an effortless duel for the side as they held tightly onto their defence and ensured there was no room for errors.

Team captain Vatiseva Cavuru said their win redeemed them from their round one loss against Suva.

“Our preparation this week was not an easy one and we had to overcome challenges, cried during training and we are thankful we were able to put those points up against Yasawa today (yesterday),” Cavuru mentioned.

With their victory in just their second round in the Marama Cup competition following their elevation to it from the Ranadi Cup, she reflected on how the progress had been since entering the highest level of women’s provincial rugby in Fiji.

“We can see the changes from our time in the Ranadi Cup and coming into the Marama Cup,” she explained.

“This is another level in itself but we know all teams have prepared very well to face the tough competition in the Marama Cup.

“This competition is the toughest but we will train harder to progress upwards.”

Heading into round three this week, Cavuru highlighted their defence as an area to work on ahead of their clash against Tailevu.

“We will work on our defence and our line-outs so that we can play in the coming week with an improved quality and work towards being in the top four,” she said.

Meanwhile, following the match, the Vodafone Fijiana XV had a scrimmage session with Manusina Samoa as part of their preparation for the Women’s Rugby World Cup in England later this month.
