THE first Golf Fiji junior golf tournament in six years was successfully held at the Novotel Golf Course over the weekend, attracting more than 35 young golfers from around the country.
Despite challenging weather conditions, the tournament went ahead, with play reduced to 15 holes due to rain.
Organisers praised the juniors for their determination and sportsmanship throughout the event.
In the U18 category, Aarav Nand claimed top honours with an impressive gross score of 59. Demon Chen of Ba finished second on 62, while Rusiate from Suva placed third with a score of 63.
The U12 division, played over nine holes, saw seven-year-old Kairav Prasad of Natadola Bay take out the title with a score of 43. Anaya Chand of Ba finished second on 46, while Kayden Prasad secured third place with 47.
In the U9 category, where players competed over five holes, Chriyansh Dass of Lautoka emerged victorious with a score of 31. Inoke Bolakoro Jnr followed closely in second place on 34, while Joseph Drauniniu, also from Lautoka, finished third with 40.
Golf Fiji president Amitesh Chandra thanked Inoke Bolakoro and the Novotel management for hosting the event and for sponsoring the main prize.
He also confirmed the next junior golf event will be held during the first-term school holidays at the Novotel Golf Course.
The tournament was sponsored by Golf Fiji and supported by New Delhi Electrical and Easypar Golf.
