THE Ba Rugby Union will host the Junior Championship finals and the opening round of the Vinod Patel Cup competition at Vinod Patel Park in Ba tomorrow.

A full day of exciting rugby action is expected with teams from across the district battling for top honours in the U14, U16, U18 and U20 grades, while village clubs begin their Vinod Patel Cup campaign.

The junior finals are expected to attract huge support from families, schools and rugby fans as young players showcase their talent and passion for the sport.

One of the most anticipated matches of the day will be the U18 Cup final between Matavelo and Rarawai FSC at 11.10am on Ground One. Both teams have impressed throughout the competition and are expected to deliver a thrilling contest. In the U14 Cup final, Ba River will face Navala at 9am, while Ba River will also feature in the U16 Cup Final against Nailaga at 10am.

The U20 Cup final at 12.30pm will see Natalecake take on Navala in another highly anticipated clash.

Ground Three will also host several playoff matches including the Under-14 Bowl Final, Plate Final, U16 Cup 3rd/4th playoff, U18 girls match and U20 Plate and 3rd/4th finals.

Meanwhile, the Vinod Patel Cup Round One competition will begin from 2pm on Ground One and continue throughout Grounds Two and Three. Defending village pride and local bragging rights will be on the line as clubs such as Tabalei, Navala, Nailaga, Bukuya, Sasa, Nadelei, Toge, Sorokoba, FSC and Ba River begin their campaign.

Ba Rugby Union officials say the tournament continues to play an important role in developing grassroots rugby and creating opportunities for young players in the district.

The tournament will kick at 8am.
