THE Junior Bati rugby league side expects their international fixture against the Southwest Queensland Emus to be an exciting one.

Team coach Peni Baro said the 25-member squad has been preparing diligently for the match, their third contest against a visiting international team this year.

“We are expecting a good game especially for teams that come all the way from Australia, they are well prepared since most of those players have already been introduced to the sport at such a young age,” Baro said.

He added these players were introduced to the sport when they were as young as 12-years-old and have already known how to master the game as they progressed onward in the sport of rugby league over the years.

“And for some of them, having matches like this has become normal for them so they will prepare very well for it.

“They are a good side since they are coming to represent their state as well and they are not only touring in one place but other venues too.”

The Junior Bati and the Rise Rookies, their female counterparts, face the respective Southwest Queensland Emus sides this Saturday at Churchill Park in Lautoka.

Matches begin at 11am.
