Judicial Services Commission advertises vacancy for FICAC Commissioner

The Judicial Services Commission (JSC) has invited applications from suitably qualified individuals for the position of Commissioner of the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC).

According to the vacancy notice, the Commissioner holds wide-ranging powers under Section 115 of the Constitution, including the authority to appoint, remove and discipline all FICAC staff.

The Commissioner is also responsible for determining employment terms and conditions, qualification requirements, salaries and allowances, and the overall staff establishment, in line with FICAC’s budget approved by Parliament.

The role also carries responsibility for the preparation and implementation of FICAC’s strategic plan, annual corporate plan and annual budget, ensuring the organisation secures adequate and timely resources from government.

Applicants must be admitted as a legal practitioner in Fiji or another prescribed jurisdiction, with at least 15 years post-admission experience and demonstrated knowledge and expertise in a relevant field.

Candidates should also have two to three years of people management or supervisory experience, strong leadership and stakeholder management skills, and the ability to think strategically.

A relevant university degree is highly desirable, and applicants must have no criminal record or Independent Legal Services Commission conviction.

Under the FICAC Act 2007, the Commissioner is appointed by the President on the recommendation of the Judicial Services Commission, following consultation with the Attorney-General.
