The investigating officer in the case against Bradley Robert Dawson, a US national facing murder charge for the death of his wife in a resort in the Yasawas, has been summoned to court to explain the whereabouts of three witness statements.
Mr Dawson is charged with the murder of his wife Christe Chan on Turtle Island on July 9, 2022.
His lawyer Anil Prasad informed Justice Riyaz Hamza at the High Court in Lautoka yesterday that he had asked the State to provide him with these statements, however, this was not done.
The State prosecutor then informed the court they could not find the statements within the exhibits they had received.
He informed Justice Hamza that exhibits were moved during the relocation of the Lautoka Police Station and the investigating officer would be the best person to advise the court on this.
His trial is expected to begin soon.
