High court judge Justice Aruna Aluthge has deferred the plea date for seven men charged in relation to the unlawful importation of 4.8 kilograms of methamphetamine.

The men, Apenisa Matadigo, Viliame Nalago, Are Tania, Uraia Bolalailai, Osea Dakai, Neumi Donumainasava, and Nigerian national Chukwuemeka Phabian appeared at the High Court in Lautoka yesterday.

Mr Matadigo also faces a charge of possession of property believed to be proceeds of crime for the $470 found on him.

It is alleged the illicit consignment was discovered at the Nadi International Airport on May 25.

Michelle Lomaloma appeared for the State.

Defence lawyers confirmed receiving the amended consolidated charges and each man requested to defer the plea to another date.

Justice Aluthge adjourned the matter to October 7 for plea and extended bail for all except Mr Phabian.
