A 25-YEAR-OLD teacher at a prominent school in Tailevu has been convicted of raping three of his students.
Justice Usaia Ratuvili yesterday found the teacher guilty of six counts of rape, which were committed at his home between 2023 and 2024. The male victims were aged 15 and 17.
Throughout the trial, the teacher categorically denied the allegations, claiming they were maliciously motivated.
However, Justice Ratuvili noted that the students remained unshaken during cross-examination and clearly testified to what the teacher had done to them.
The court found that the State had successfully discharged its burden of proof, proving the charges beyond a reasonable doubt.
The teacher’s bail has been extended, and a sentencing hearing has been scheduled for June 18.
