An advertisement calling for applications for the role of Commissioner of the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption has been withdrawn following legal advice.
The Judicial Services Commission (JSC) confirmed in a public notice that the advertisement, published on January 10, 2026 in The Fiji Times and the Fiji Sun, should be disregarded.
Media reports later suggested that some members of the Judicial Services Commission were taken by surprise by the advertisement, which appeared just two days earlier.
The JSC said the withdrawal was made after it received legal advice but did not elaborate on the reasons behind the decision.
“The Judicial Services Commission advises that the advertisement published on 10 January 2026 in The Fiji Times and the Fiji Sun, inviting applications for the position of Commissioner of the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption, is hereby withdrawn and should be disregarded,” the commission said.
“This withdrawal is made following legal advice.
“The commission will make any further public announcement, if required, at the appropriate time.”
The withdrawal was dated January 16, 2026 and takes immediate effect.
