The Australia CommBank Joeys produced a disciplined defensive performance to defeat the Junior Bula Boys 2–0 at Churchill Park on Saturday.
The visitors made a strong start from the opening whistle, controlling most of the possession and applying early pressure on the Fijian side.
Their dominance paid off just a minute before halftime when Max Court found the back of the net to give Australia a 1–0 lead at the break.
Fiji lifted their intensity in the second half and created several scoring opportunities but failed to convert, with the Australian defence holding firm under pressure.
Australia maintained their well-structured game plan and sealed the win when Joey Sikora scored the second goal, ending the Junior Bula Boys’ hopes of a comeback.
Goal scorer Max Court credited the victory to the team’s discipline and execution on the field.
“It came down to our technique and sticking to the game plan.”
Despite the loss, the Junior Bula Boys gained valuable experience from the international encounter as they continue their preparations for future competitions.
