JASPER Williams High School’s Tarusila Naiyala delivered a powerful anchor leg to seal victory in the junior girls 4×100 metres relay at the Lautoka Zone meet yesterday.
The Drekena, Rewa native capped off an outstanding performance, claiming her third gold medal of the day after earlier wins in the 100m and 200m finals.
Living up to the saying “save the best for last”, Naiyala surged to the line five metres ahead of Natabua High School to secure gold for her team in a time of 50.93 seconds.
“I’m so grateful to God for my win,” she said.
“Before my events, I set a goal to win the 200m final and the 4x100m relay. I knew it wouldn’t be easy, but I thank God for the victory.”
With the Coca-Cola Games approaching, Naiyala says her focus is to improve further and deliver an even better performance.
