For five years Sigatoka resident Avinesh Ram was yearning from behind prison bars to see his family.
Yesterday, the 46-year-old former hotel worker was finally a free man after Justice Aruna Aluthge dismissed the one count of rape he was charged with.
It was alleged that Mr Ram forcefully had a sexual encounter with the complainant at Olosara, Sigatoka in 2019.
Mr Ram was represented by lawyers Iqbal Khan and Samuela Heritage at the High Court in Lautoka.
Mr Khan told the court his client and the complainant were in a relationship and that sex was consensual.
