IT’S all systems go this afternoon when the FIJI Water Flying Fijians face the Australian Wallabies in Newcastle, Australia in their first Test match this year and Flying Fijians captain Tevita Ikanivere has acknowledged the strength present within the home team.

Speaking to the media yesterday, Ikanivere stated the Wallabies were a formidable team, as they meet once more following their previous meeting at the 2023 Rugby World Cup in France.

Fiji won that match 22-15 and he added the result earned was the story two years ago, as the team’s goal for this Test was a composed, yet definite one: earn a win.

“We know that the Wallabies are preparing very well,” he said.

He stated they knew this to be the case since they had intensified their training in all aspects.

Meanwhile, Wallabies captain Harry Wilson was in high spirits yesterday when asked how he felt about the Test match today.

“Obviously, the first Test match of the year. There’s been a lot of excitement in camp and we all can’t wait to hit the ground running in what’s going to be a really exciting Test match against Fiji,” Wilson told reporters at Newcastle Beach.

“We’re really excited for it. We had two weeks in camp together so we really try to, I guess fast track our continuity.

“And we know it’s such a big Test match tomorrow and we’ve watched a lot of Fiji footage, we know it’s coming and it’s going to be a really good battle.”

The match kicks off at 3.30pm at the McDonald Jones Stadium.
